What we established, and from where
The Addison Apartments stands at the north-west corner of East Morehead and McDowell streets, at the north-eastern edge of Charlotte's Dilworth neighbourhood.

The Addison Apartment Company was owned by Charlottean John Addison Jones, who also ran the J. A. Jones Construction Company, the project's contractor.

J. A. Jones Construction was the city's premier building contracting firm of the early twentieth century, building the Professional Building among other local landmarks in the 1920s.

The Addison's architect, Willard G. Rogers, also designed Colonial Revival and Dutch Colonial Revival houses in Dilworth, including the 1910 W. T. McCoy House and the 1915 Z. V. Taylor House.

Rogers continued practising architecture in Charlotte until 1942, when he moved to Atlanta at the age of 79.

Built at a cost of $500,000, the Addison provided residents with auto garages, a filling station and a car wash to the rear.
