The Addison Apartments stands at the north-west corner of East Morehead and McDowell streets, at the north-eastern edge of Charlotte's Dilworth neighbourhood.

The Addison Apartment Company was owned by Charlottean John Addison Jones, who also ran the J. A. Jones Construction Company, the project's contractor.

The Addison's architect, Willard G. Rogers, also designed Colonial Revival and Dutch Colonial Revival houses in Dilworth, including the 1910 W. T. McCoy House and the 1915 Z. V. Taylor House.
