Moving to Charlotte
The things with deadlines on them, the things nobody tells you, and where to find your own language, your own food and your own congregation once you are here.
You have sixty days. That is the window for a driving licence and vehicle registration after you establish residency, and Mecklenburg is one of only nineteen North Carolina counties that also requires an emissions test. The first-weeks guide below sets out what that actually involves.
Second thing: Charlotte is not Mecklenburg County. The county contains Charlotte plus six other incorporated towns with their own governments, and a Charlotte postal address does not put you in the City of Charlotte. It decides which rules, services and schools apply to you.

We publish what each organisation says about itself — its own description of its tradition, its languages and its visitor guidance. We do not assume affiliation, etiquette or access, and we do not reproduce service times, which change.
