Plenty of places in Charlotte will replace a phone screen. What sets this shop apart is what it takes on after the easy repairs run out. It advertises board-level work carried out on the premises rather than shipped to a depot — micro-soldering a new HDMI port into a PS5, rebuilding lifted pads on a logic board, ultrasonic cleaning of a liquid-damaged MacBook. It also repairs categories most shops turn away: DJI drones, iPods, and a long list of consoles running from the current PS5, Xbox, Switch and Steam Deck back through the PS3, GameCube, N64, SNES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy.

A page worth reading before you touch a screwdriver. The shop's DIY Repair Rescue page is aimed at people whose home repair went wrong, and the advice is good regardless of who eventually fixes it: stop immediately, because the expensive damage usually happens while you are trying to undo the first mistake; do not power the device on or charge it; put every screw and broken fragment in a bag; and bring the original home button, Face ID or fingerprint module, because those components are cryptographically paired to the device and cannot simply be swapped.

The warranty, and the separate guarantee. These are two different things and the difference matters.

• Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship warranty — if a part they fitted or work they did fails on its own, they put it right. It does not cover you dropping it.
• Separately, an optional 12-month Screen Breakage Guarantee covers exactly that: crack the new screen accidentally within a year and they replace it once, free. Eligibility is confirmed at the counter and written on your receipt. It excludes punctured screens, back glass, bent frames, liquid damage and lost or stolen devices, it is non-transferable, and you need the receipt. Once you have used the free replacement, re-activating it costs a fee quoted at the counter.

Getting a device to them. Walk in Monday to Saturday without an appointment, or text a photo of the damage for a preliminary read before you set off. If the opening hours do not fit around a shift or a lecture timetable, call first and they will issue a one-time code — generated for your visit, not a shared combination — for a secure drop box you can use at any hour. They also take mail-in repairs from anywhere in the United States, with a free diagnostic when the device arrives, a firm price before any work, and insured tracked return shipping at no charge under the same 90-day warranty.

Diagnostics are free and quoted before work begins, and the shop's stated policy is that if they cannot fix it, you do not pay.

Selling instead of fixing. Charlotte Tech Trade is the same shop's buying arm. Text three photos and the model and they may give a preliminary estimate, but the real offer comes after an in-store inspection and a check of ownership and lock status — sensible, and standard. Send photos only: never text a serial number, IMEI, passcode or account password to anyone. They also sell refurbished devices, though stock is confirmed by enquiry rather than listed live.
