For a leisure visit to Ballantyne, start with a named destination. The Bowl's current website groups dining, services, Stream Park and TD Amp Ballantyne around one visitor area. [source] It is a useful place to begin planning a meal, a walk or a performance without trying to treat all of Ballantyne as one compact shopping street. The Bowl visitor directory
How the visitor area developed
Northwood traces Ballantyne's development on former farmland to the early 1990s, primarily by The Bissell Companies. [source]
Northwood's account of the project records its acquisition from The Bissell Companies in March 2017. It describes the subsequent Ballantyne Reimagined plan as a shift from an office park and golf course toward mixed-use development, following rezoning approval in June 2020. This is the developer's account of the campus redevelopment, rather than a complete history of the surrounding neighborhood. [source] [source] Northwood's project history
In its 2024 opening announcement, Northwood described The Bowl as a dining, retail and entertainment district. Its present website is the better source for today's businesses: an opening announcement's first tenants are not a current directory. [source] The Bowl opening announcement · Current directory
Pick the kind of outing you want
A meal and a stroll. Use The Bowl's dining directory to choose the actual restaurant, then check that business's own opening and booking information. The site's outdoor visitor suggestions include Stream Park and the greenway. [source] Use its current maps and park links to choose the stretch you want; this guide does not promise that every part of the broader neighborhood connects by a continuous pedestrian route.
A concert or other performance. The venue's current name is TD Amp Ballantyne. Northwood identifies it as an outdoor entertainment venue hosting concerts, festivals and nonprofit events. [source] Start with the venue's own programme to confirm the event, ticket type, admission rules and arrival information. Current name and operator
Another organised activity. Open The Bowl's events page for current offerings. Check the individual listing: a district's program can mix different kinds of events, and the conditions of one listing should not be carried across to another. We keep those details with the organiser so a copied calendar does not send you to an expired event.
Plan the arrival around your destination
Confirm the destination's own map, parking instructions and any event-specific restrictions before leaving. If you want to use public transport, plan the whole journey with CATS, including the onward leg to your chosen entrance. We have not estimated driving or walking times.
For a contrasting rail-based outing, see South End. The neighbourhood guide compares other parts of Charlotte, and day trips offers destinations beyond the city.
Sources and limits
Northwood and the current Bowl and TD Amp material were checked on October 3, 2026. Development chronology and facilities are operator-reported. The Bowl, corporate campus and wider Ballantyne neighborhood are different geographic ideas. Tenants, tickets, event dates, access and parking terms should be checked on the linked official sites.
